PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — October 27, 2026. Placer County has extended the Kings Beach free bulk cardboard drop-off program through winter into 2027 after a summer pilot attracted strong participation.
How the project or program works
The residential drop-off location is at North Lake Boulevard and Fox Street on county-owned property. The county says the bin is generally available seven days per week, except brief Monday and Friday interruptions for servicing. Only clean, broken-down, flattened cardboard can be deposited; no food-contaminated packaging, other recyclables or household garbage is allowed. The county is adding snowplow support to keep the location accessible in winter.
What residents should verify
A winter extension is not permission to dispose of furniture, plastics or construction rubbish at this site. Service access may be affected by storms or bin capacity. This is in Kings Beach, an unincorporated North Lake Tahoe area covered here by Tahoe City News pending a dedicated newspaper. Check official site guidance before traveling.
