PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — October 27, 2026. Placer County supervisors approved a partnership with Tahoe Fund to install donor plaques along roughly 300 feet of fence line near Commons Beach in Tahoe City.
How the project or program works
The program proposes up to 228 plaques. A Mama Bear plaque requires a $5,000 donation, measures 13 by 20 inches, and accepts a personalized message of 40 to 45 characters. A Baby Bear plaque is offered for a $2,500 donation and measures 8 by 12 inches with a message of 20 to 25 characters. Proceeds support capital improvements at Commons Beach. An earlier Tahoe City Bears plaque effort raised $340,000 for trails.
What residents should verify
These are voluntary philanthropic donations, not a fee to enter Commons Beach. Availability, inscriptions, deadlines and any tax deductibility depend on the nonprofit’s current written terms. The program was announced October 20.
